Meet the Flourish Clinical Team!
Teal Russeau, LCMHCA
They / Them
Your story is worth telling. Your experiences are real. Your feelings are valid.
I am passionate about walking alongside neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ children and adults working through understanding their identity, relationships, and emotion regulation. I believe it is not only powerful and healing but also essential to have a therapeutic relationship with someone who understands the experience of feeling marginalized and “different” navigating the world. Therefore, I feel it is helpful for future clients to know that I myself identify as queer, nonbinary, autistic, and an ADHDer.
I have worked with various populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and families. My theoretical orientation is based in feminist and social constructionist theories, skill-based and mindfulness techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and neuroqueer theory, helping neurodivergent folx find sensory coping skills and adaptations that work for them. I specialize in neurodivergence (autism and ADHD), marginalized identities, diversity and advocacy, and queer and genderqueer identities.
I received my dual master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Social Psychology from Ball State University and obtained my license as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina (License #A16565) in 2021. I have 3.5 years of counseling experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I enjoy working with kids ages 10-18 and adults.
When I’m not seeing clients, you can pretty much always find me dancing at my favorite studio in Asheville (hip hop, jazz, contemporary, all the things, you name it, I’m there!). I also enjoy trying new vegan restaurants and local coffee shops, looking at art, and going hiking with friends.
I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate life as a neurodivergent, queer individual and I am excited to help you thrive as your unique, authentic self!
