Meet the Flourish Clinical Team!

Kiana Harlan, LCSW

Hi there! I’m Kiana and I’m so glad you’ve landed on my page. I know the search for your ideal therapist can be overwhelming. I’m here to help people just like you find your fit and begin the road to recovery.

My clients are individuals and couples seeking support with processing through stressful or traumatic events that happened in their lives. These experiences lead them to feeling like outcasts who don’t fit in, because their stories seem so different from those around them.

They feel they would be most comfortable on the Isle of Misfit Toys. They’re often swamped with loneliness, sadness, worry, and thoughts that they will never be good enough. They search tirelessly for ways to make sense of these thoughts and emotions. Some blend into the background, trying not to be seen. Others work super hard and become perfectionists, people pleasers, or overachievers.

They hide parts of themselves from friends, family members, and colleagues out of fear that they’ll be judged, shamed, or ejected. As a result, they hold back the best parts of themselves. They find they don’t know what to trust and end up messing up relationships or missing out on opportunities.

I know firsthand that addressing these issues can be challenging. Together, we’ll explore the origins of these feelings. It can be extremely healing to shed light on the roots of these problems and begin processing the impact on your life. Often, there are deep wounds that reach all the way back to childhood. Whether you’re reaching out for yourself or as a couple, or for your child, know that you are gaining someone that will traverse the unknown waters of trauma by your side. I’ll help you regain control of your life, heal from your past, and restore connection with yourself and others. You’ll be the driver of our time together and I’ll serve as your trusty companion. I’ll support, challenge, and hold up that safety net so you can explore those roots and experiment with change in a secure place.

I operate from a Humanistic and attachment approach, which means I view you as the expert of your life and recognize the importance of relationships to assist in recovery. We are all strong and have found ways to cope through this rollercoaster of life. That doesn’t mean we don’t need a little help sometimes! As a female of color with a disability, I’ve personally felt the crippling anxiety that parts of myself will be seen as weak or inadequate to others. I’ve cried myself to sleep at night because I felt a soul-deep despair and loneliness that I never thought I’d overcome. While I recognize that we will all feel some of this at times, I also know that it doesn’t have to define or control us. This is what attracted me to this work. There’s a path forward. You can live the life you want. I invite you to reach out if you’re ready to take the first step.

I’m so excited to speak with you and join you on your journey!
